CoLab provides early-stage and established science and technology companies with tailored business services and a flexible environment to grow. The aim of this centre is to enable business and academia to interact to create viable enterprises for the Northwest that will secure the region’s future in terms of job creation, innovation and export potential.

It’s a community, a network of young, knowledge and technology-driven enterprises enjoying the facilities, supports and services they need to grow and succeed. Colab acts as a dynamic point of convergence where quality-of-life meets cutting-edge technology, where Ireland’s Northwest meets the global marketplace. Now entering an exciting next generation phase, the new CoLab extension based on the prestigious North West Regional Science Park (NWRSP)* model, offers specialist facilities and supports for science projects. The new extension at CoLab has been purpose-built to accommodate science and technology businesses.

Established in 2009, CoLab has become widely recognised for its success as a business incubator offering experience, contacts, resources and a launch pad for new knowledge-based businesses in the North West Region. It is located at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) campus, which has excellent relationships with the industrial and commercial sectors and a highly successful record in supporting science and technology enterprise.  What began as an incubation space for the North West of Ireland has turned into a successful “ecosystem” which has supported many innovative start-ups to become profitable commercial Enterprises all over the world.

The CoLab building is equipped with the most modern technology available, with meeting and conference rooms offering state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, high spec. laboratories, dedicated superfast broadband speeds of 100Mb and access to Project Kelvin 35G and universal wireless. There are many versatile spaces to choose from, including, co working hubs, various sizes of business offices and “clean rooms”. With comfortable meeting areas, the environment is conducive to sharing ideas, solving problems and knowledge exchange. This signature building is an impressive place to bring clients, potential investors and staff, or as a venue to promote or launch your business.

Training and Experts

Entrepreneurs have access to a panel of well respected mentors, experts in their fields, such as, funding, marketing, investors, patenting, business strategy, international markets and finance.

The entrepreneur development programme “New Frontiers” from Enterprise Ireland is delivered at CoLab and those who successfully meet the criteria, will attend a combination of leadership and management training, business master classes and practical workshops on topics relevant to growing knowledge-based businesses.
