Gartan Outdoor Centre

The best in  Adventure and Environmental Education. Gartan Outdoor Education Centre works with people of all ages and abilities, providing both facilities and courses for a very wide ranging programme. On offer are great facilities, an inspirational setting, highly qualified and experienced staff, excellent food and catering, and a very warm welcome!

The centre prides itself on providing very high quality Outdoor Education courses and events, in a truly inspirational environment. Set on 87 acres on the shores of Gartan Lough and close to mountains and woodlands, sea, coast and islands, and rivers and 15 minutes from Letterkenny, Gartan Outdoor Education Centre is superbly located to deliver a wide range of Adventure Education Courses, Environmental Education Courses. The programme is broad and suitable for primary schools, secondary schools, youth groups/clubs, 3rd Level Education, individuals and groups.Specialist Courses, Team Building, Management Training and Adventure Sports Training. The centre also run courses on a residential and non residential basis, 7 days a week, all year round. 

The Estate

Once a working farm, and known locally as Lough Veagh Estate and House, this wonderful old estate of 87 acres, with 1 kilometre of lakeshore,provides many walks with lovely views. The centre is working towards growing  willow on the Estate, and thus providing a fuel source. Also situated on the Estate is the St Colmcille Heritage Centre.

The Main Building

This restored stone building with two distinct wings, offers high quality, bright and spacious accommodation, with all the high standard support facilities that you would expect in a modern progressive outdoor Centre. The accommodation is in two wings, one with rooms and ensuite facilities overlooking the lake, the other bright, spacious hostel style.

The Boathouse 

This wood and stone building looks out onto Gartan Lough and the adjacent woodland. Used for conferences, seminars and non residential bookings, this beautiful facility is a short lakeshore walk from the main Centre. Corporate Adventure Education and Development courses run from here.  Floor to ceiling windows make the very best of the outdoor environment and setting.
