The Irish Farming Community Descended on Letterkenny on Wednesday 18th June 2014 to attend the formal launch of Farmflo’s new Crops 2.0 and mobile app products. The event was held at the CoLab facility where Farmflo is now based.
“As government and EU regulations intensify, we wanted to find some software that could handle some of the reports and paperwork for us. There simply wasn't anything like it out there, so we built it ourselves!” Gareth Devenney, Co-Founder of Farmflo.
Farmflo provides cloud-based software that seamlessly integrates into the farmers’ working day by harnessing technology to reduce the additional administrative burden, saving the farmer many hours of labour intensive administrative work per week; providing peace of mind knowing their compliance and information provision requirements are being taken care of. During the event, Co –Founders and brothers, Jason and Gareth Devenney from Newtowncunningham presented the Farmflo story and demonstrated the software using data captured from their own farm. Attendees also had the opportunity to view the new mobile app in action and were given detailed demonstrations.
Farmer, CEO, Co-Founder Gareth Devenney grew up on the family farm before studying at Greenmount Agricultural College. Having graduated and spending a year working on large farms in Australia, he took on the day to day operations of the 140 acre farm from his dad, Jim Devenney. Over the last ten years Gareth has focused on increasing cereal production, building out the farms commercial flock of sheep and is always looking at ways to make the farm run more efficiently while improving its performance.
Gareth Devenney said “the momentum behind Farmflo is now unstoppable. High numbers of farmers have signed up for Farmflo during the first month of our public launch in May 2014.” He continued “Compliance is one of the biggest worries for farmers and our product provides an easy to use solution that eliminates worry and enables farmers to focus on what they enjoy most.”
Jason Devenney Developer, CEO, Co-Founder also grew up working on the family farm before studying IT in London, securing an honours degree in Computer Information System Design. After an early career developing software for Walt Disney and Global Aerospace, he went on to co-found cloud based ERP start up, Siondo. After that, he re-joined the corporate world where he worked as a Senior Project Manager for SAS Software, implementing multi-million dollar secure intelligence solutions for government agencies and police forces globally, before co-founding Farmflo.
